About Us

Robert Harris started his career in the jewellery industry in 1947 at the age of 15 as an apprentice jewellery maker for Garrards. His skills were quickly acknowledged and he was recognised as a natural craftsman. Garrards were responsible for the upkeep of some of the crown jewels and in 1952 he was involved in preparing them for the Coronation. They had to be taken from one workshop to another and it was “Bob’s” responsibility to carry one of the items, alone across Soho in a brown paper bag! Later working at Kutchinksy he excelled in his work, creating many beautiful pieces and was involved in some very distinguished commissions including setting a platinum brooch with diamonds for Princess Margaret. He then made a copy in silver and marquisate for his wife Shirley, which she still has today. In 1968 he moved into retail, opening his first small shop in Rickmansworth, then in 1971 moving to its current location in the centre of the High Street. The business is now run by his son Richard and a highly experienced and knowledgeable team, some who have been with the business for many years.

Robert Harris Jewellers prides itself on its good reputation, serving the local community with its jewellery related needs, whether it’s creating a bespoke diamond ring or a replacing a watch battery. The business excels in its pre-owned market, always stocking a wide range of interesting items which present great value for money. New jewellery includes some well known brands amongst more individual designers and harder to find products.
